Life Insurance Paramed Exam
Your paramedical exam will factor heavily into your final offer. Schedule it during the morning,
before you have eaten, to prevent an abnormal cholesterol reading.
Likewise, avoid exercising during the twelve hours leading up to your appointment to minimize the
chance of an elevated blood pressure result.
Eating foods uncustomary to your diet within twelve hours of your exam may lead to adverse effects. Avoid dairy products, red meats, bacon, salt, caffeine, and alcohol. Limit fat intake to less than 25 grams per day. Good foods to eat include chicken, fish, fruits, vegetables, and oatmeal. Be sure to consume at least 30 grams of fiber per day, and drink pleny of water. If you have a larger arm, request a larger cuff during your blood pressure readings to avoid any erroneous results. Sleep well the night before your exam. If you take medications, continue taking them and have them available for reference. You should reschedule your exam if you have experienced high amounts of stress within a few days of your appointment. Following these tips will minimize the chances of producing an abnormal result. If you have any concerns at all, you should contact your agent or your examiner and arrange to have your exam rescheduled for a better time. After you have completed your exam, and you have received your official policy offer, ask your agent if a lower premium might be found with a different company. Insurance carriers have different underwriting guidelines, so a better offer may be out there for you. If your agent writes policies with a large selection of companies, he or she will be able to get you a second or third opinion. If your agent in limited to a small selection of companies, you should find an independent agent who can provide this service for you. If your agent finds a potentially better company for you, accept your initial offer and set it up for monthly payments. Then replace it if your final offer is a better one. Why take the risk of not being covered for the weeks that it will take to get your second offer in place? Besides, your final offer may not turn out any better than your initial one. Finally, you should consider placing a non-medical life insurance policy in force before your first application. A-Rated companies are now offering up to $250,000 of term life insurance completely online. These policies do not require an exam, and rarely undergo any underwriting. The majority of clients have their applications approved immediately, right there on their computer! Placing non-medical coverage in force before applying for a fully underwritten policy guards against unforseen results in your insurance application, and it provides temporary coverage while your application is underwritten. Once your final offer arrives, you have the luxury of replacing your non-med policy, or retaining it for additional coverage. |
